Mr. Joe Shields

Effective Troubleshooting:

Diagnosing sawmill machinery performance problems can be challenging, but with these tips you’ll learn how to identify problems and implement the solutions.

Joe Shields has over 40 years of experience troubleshooting electrical, electronic, and mechanical sawmill machinery systems. He joined USNR in 1979 after 6 years in the US Navy as an Electronics Technician.

Joe has worked in the manufacturing and service departments of USNR where he specialized in edgers, gangs, bandmills, planers, and chipper systems. He has been instrumental in developing formulas used to design the proper application of saws and chippers. Joe designed and assembled the alignment methods for the first Multi-Line Scanner, that measures the board to be cut, for USNR. Training, alignments and system diagnostics have become his focus for service trips around the world.

Today, Joe works with the engineering and service departments developing product improvements that reduce maintenance and downtime.
